Perhaps too old and too flamboyant to be the representative to break the longstanding color barrier, Hall of Fame hurler Leroy "Satchel" Paige finally got his time to shine in the majors. Here's Paige on this important 1949 Bowman rookie card, boasting an extraordinarily clean background color, a well-focused image of the aging superstar, and endpoints that come close to NM/MT standards. The centering is mildly shifted toward the top edge and it seems that PSA treated that very harshly as the overall look of the card compares with NM to NM+ specimens. The reverse shows almost perfect centering and a clean canvas with deep print. A very sharp example that will do your mid or upper-grade assemblage justice.
