After making his first Bowman appearance in the colorized 1949 series, Jackie Robinson is graced with one of the most aesthetically pleasing artist's renderings in the 1950 Bowman set, a full body shot reminiscent of the 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth card. Jackie had just taken National League MVP honors, leading the senior circuit with a .342 batting average and 37 stolen bases, and further advancing the movement of integration in baseball. The offered card is near-perfectly centered with sturdy NM/MT to NM/MT+ corners and an overload of color enhanced eye appeal. Intense focus and registration, far sharper than is customary for the issue, create this masterful depiction of baseball's pioneer, who played his entire career in the majors with the beloved "Bums" from Brooklyn, retiring after the 1956 season rather than accepting a trade to the New York Giants. An important card and one of the finer examples we've seen in strong NM/MT condition.
