Having lost three years of his baseball career to military service, 32-year-old Ted Williams lost the opportunity to set many all-time major league records, though his lifetime .347 average at the time placed him squarely among the game's most celebrated immortals. Such an elite hitter Ted Williams was that in his final season as a 41-year-old, he still managed to bat at a .316 clip. Presented is one of the finest examples of "Teddy Ballgame's" 1951 Bowman card that you will ever see! Sure, the Mays and Mantle rookie cards rule the set, but when you have an opportunity to corral a MINT example like this, you've gotta take notice. One of only 16 to earn a PSA 9 grade with none graded higher, it makes an immediate impact on the rankings for the PSA Set Registry. It may sound cliche but this card really does look like it came directly out of the pack and into a PSA holder, its corners and edges presenting almost flawlessly while the image of Williams is freshly pigmented and the reverse offers a clean and bold canvas. The centering appears to be just a degree or two to the left, maybe the only reason it wasn't the first GEM MINT specimen on record. A truly exceptional card!
