Perhaps the greatest "second best" post-war rookie card in any series, the 1951 Bowman debut example of Hall of Famer Willie Mays is an absolute necessity for any advanced collector boasting a world-class collection. "The Say Hey Kid's" body of work compares with anyone in baseball history, boasting a .302 career batting average with 660 home runs to go along with 12 Gold Glove awards. He also served his country with distinction during World War II, then won the NL batting title, NL MVP award, and led his team to a World Series Championship immediately upon his return. The offered card is graded PSA 4, moderately shifted toward the bottom horizontal edge as are many specimens at this grade level. The central image offers a very pleasing presentation of Mays while the reverse is better framed. A highly presentable specimen of one of Bowman's most celebrated issues.
