A card as celebrated as the 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie pasteboard is enough to make a name for any baseball card company's collection, but lightning struck twice for Bowman as Willie Mays also made his introduction in the 1951 series. Posting a career .302 batting average with 660 home runs, 339 stolen bases, and at least one National League title in nine different offensive categories in addition to his 12 Gold Glove awards make it no wonder that this is one of the most desirable and sought-after rookie cards in the entire hobby! While centered mildly toward the left horizontal edge, the image exhibits extreme focus and detail and the color saturation is tremendous beneath an ample slathering of factory gloss. The corners and edges appear to be superior to the EX/MT grade and the reverse is immaculate, more in line with NM to NM/MT examples. This highly presentable specimen is perhaps the strongest representation we've ever seen at an EX/MT grade and is destined for inclusion in someone's Hall of Fame collection.
