As is often, or dare I say almost always, the case with high-number cards from the 1952 Topps series, this extremely high-quality example of Jackie Robinson shows a centering bias that favors the Brooklyn corner. But if you take into account the above grade registration, the depth of the saturated red-blood backdrop and the eye-pleasing strength of the NM+ to NM/MT endpoints, you can only conclude that while a NM grade seems equitable, it really doesn't represent the overall appearance of the card. At this point in Robinson's career, his resume included a Rookie of the Year award, a 1949 NL MVP award, three all-star appearances and a National League batting title, honors which helped speed the way toward baseball's inevitable integration. Any '52 Topps set at the NM or better level would greatly benefit from such a key piece!
