Three cards stand out from the many great issues in Topps' inaugural effort: #1 Andy Pafko, the famous Mickey Mantle card #311, and the rookie card of Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews, the final card in the series. Presented for your consideration is an utterly spectacular example of one of those three premiere cards, that of home run clubbing Eddie Mathews. Graded SGC 7 NM, the offered showpiece exhibits a magnificent image, far outclassing the large majority of other Mathews rookie cards circulating throughout the hobby. Perfectly preserved colors dominate the front surface, as evidenced by the thoroughly solid black ink outlining the image. Each of the four corners is at or above grade level while the positioning of the image is very subtle toward the left, which carries an appealing rough cut. Overall, a high-end hobby masterpiece that is worthy of closing out your advanced collection in style.
