Many collectors believe that when it comes to grading companies, the more high-profile the card is, the more conservative they become in their overall assessment. While that's a question that can spur a spirited debate either way, it appears to hold with this 1953 Topps card of Mickey Mantle, a sharp PSA 6 example that offers eye appeal that could compete with many examples that grade higher. The centering is wonderful, just slightly toward the bottom edge, the corners appear sharper than the assessed grade, particularly the top two endpoints, and there's virtually no chipping save for the extreme tip in the lower left corner. The reverse is beautifully clean and there's even a mild right-side rough cut. At a minimum, it's a super high-end EX/MT specimen with, in our opinion, room for advancement pending a PSA review.
