While it seems to be a strange thing to say about a card that has a value well into five digits, the 1953 Topps Mickey Mantle card graded PSA 7 like the example featured here might be one of the most undervalued specimens in the hobby. Compared to a similarly graded 1952 Topps Mantle, unquestionably the standard-bearer of post-war baseball cards, the '53 Mantle comes in at less than 15% of the cost and is a more aesthetically pleasing card. This particular card is exceptionally strong with near perfect centering, unquestionably accurate color and registration and little to no chipping along the red border save for the very tip of the endpoint. While this card is an ideal specimen for any NM level 1953 Topps collection, it also stands as a savvy investment for any collector who believes that the 1953 Mantle will soon experience the same rapid rise in price that the '52 Topps card has shown over the last two years.
