Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA. A stunning example of the ever popular and important rookie card of all-time great, Hank Aaron. Aaron’s gift in the batter’s box flowed through his hands and wrists. In the 1990 book Men at Work: The Craft of Baseball, author George Will summarized Hank’s approach: “Henry Aaron once said, ‘I never worried about the fastball. They couldn’t throw it past me. None of them.’ That was true, but that was Aaron, he of the phenomenally quick wrists and whippy, thin-handled bat.” Despite standing six feet tall, Aaron weighed a mere 180 pounds, almost scrawny in comparison to later sluggers, but his unique physical talent allowed him to wait on the pitcher for a split second longer than most other hitters, to seemingly pluck the ball from the catcher’s glove with his bat, and made him one of the most feared sluggers in the league. The featured collectible offers four supremely NM/MT or better corners that stand at the very gates of the next opined grade level. Centered ever so slightly to the left side the presentation more than meets the centering criteria placed on the NM/MT grade by PSA. The colors are abundant and overflowing with a terrific pumpkin orange acting as the backdrop to the blue and red Braves cap as well as the dark skin tones of the once all-time HR Champ! The surface is a splendid presentation of smashing gloss as well as a perfectly focused image. The reverse is a pleasingly well printed deep green stock that offers a chip-free appearance with no apparent disturbances. In conclusion, a stunning copy of this important card will fit into the very finest of collections.
