Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA. It shouldn't surprise anyone that in this bull market of sports cards, the 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax rookie card is one of the hobby's leaders. Koufax's debut pasteboard flew under the radar of many collectors throughout the late 1950s as Sandy posted rather ordinary statistics, while names like Aaron, Mays and Mantle grabbed every headline from coast to coast. But Koufax's final six seasons of a career shortened by injury were nothing short of miraculous; a combined 129-47 record with a 2.19 ERA, 35 shutouts, five consecutive NL ERA titles, a record 382 strikeouts in 1965 (one of three seasons topping the 300K mark), three NL Cy Young Awards, an NL MVP award, and yeah, four no-hitters with one perfect game. Offered is a PSA 8 graded 1955 Topps rookie card of Sandy Koufax, featuring a stunning canary yellow backdrop, largely devoid of the usual stray print, that acts as the perfect canvas for an image of the teenage Koufax sporting his iconic navy blue Dodger cap. The centering is well within the bounds of the heightened grade while each of the four corners appropriately checks in the NM/MT level and a generous layer of original gloss encapsulates the surface. A stellar example of one of the greatest rookie cards of the 1950s!
