The 1950s were a great time in the baseball card hobby with a cavalcade of Hall of Famers making their Topps rookie debut. Near the top of that lengthy list, in terms of desirability and price, is the iconic 1955 Topps card of Sandy Koufax. The presented card is graded PSA 8 with one of the key features that helps launch it to that lofty level being the unusually clean yellow backdrop, which resists virtually all invasion of stray print that is almost standard for the issue. Centering barely favors the right horizontal edge, but this is largely overshadowed by the focus and clarity of the image and the ample dosage of factory gloss. The corners show very insignificant wear while staying well within the standards for the given grade and the reverse is adequately centered and properly printed, showing no signs of staining or disturbances save for the usual slight toning. This is truly a monumental card worthy of even the most demanding of collectors.
