Mickey Mantle's Triple Crown performance may make him the darling of the 1956 Topps set, but "Teddy Ballgame" wasn't far behind, slashing 28 homers with 83 RBI and a batting average of .356 while playing just barely over half of the season. The PSA population census reports that the gray back version of the Splendid Splinter's 1956 Topps card is submitted at only about a third of the rate of the white back counterparts. The report indicates that just 4 grays have reached MINT status with none graded higher, so both basic and master set builders looking for a supreme advantage on the PSA Set Registry should take a run at this beauty. The featured card displays with a richer, more thoroughly saturated surface than is often found on the white back variation as well as just about any other gray back than you'll ever see, offering excellent visual appeal, near-perfect centering, and true MINT endpoints. An elite example.
