After introducing their inaugural collection in 1954, Topps took a two-year hiatus before returning in 1957 with a 66-card, wildly colored collection that features players from the four American NHL teams - Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers. A trio of Hall of Famers (John Bucyk, Pierre Pilote and Norm Ullman) make their rookie card debut while examples of Terry Sawchuk and Gordie Howe lead an extensive list of immortals. What's particularly notable about the 1957 Topps hockey collection is the extreme difficulty in finding top grade cards, with over 8,200 total submissions to PSA for the entire set yielding just 159 PSA 9's and no PSA 10's. And that makes this collection all the more impressive, ranking #10 on the PSA Set Registry with an overall set rating of 7.98. Each card in this set is graded PSA 8 with the following exceptions: #7 Horvath PSA 7, 9 Labine PSA 8.5, 12 Mohns PSA 7, 25 Mortson PSA 7.5, 42 Howe PSA 7 and 66 Creighton PSA 7.
