The 1957 Topps baseball card set was a groundbreaking assemblage for a multitude of reasons. Not only did the Topps team make the move to a smaller card size, setting a standard that is still followed today, but most importantly, it also marks the company's first effort to utilize full-color photographs over artists' depictions of the players. Additionally, the two multi-player cards featured within the final series of the set, "Dodgers' Sluggers" and "Yankees' Power Hitters," would establish a trend for similarly appealing multi-player cards in future sets. Although it will never earn the exalted status bestowed upon the inaugural Topps set of 1952, the 1957 Topps set is a classic collection and a pioneer in baseball card production. It also offers an amazing selection of Hall of Famers making their cardboard debut, from Drysdale and the Robinson duo of Brooks and Frank to debut cards of Mazeroski, Herzog, and Bunning. The featured collection is magnificent, boasting an impressive 8.031 GPA. There are 15 cards graded PSA 9, eight cards graded PSA 8.5 (including #25 Ford and 250 Mathews), five cards graded PSA 7, and every other card in the series graded PSA 8. Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Williams, Banks, etc.... all graded PSA 8, except for the Ford and Matthews that are graded higher.
