One of the original true pioneers of the game, legendary Hall of Famer Bob Cousy made his cardboard debut in the centering-challenged 1957 Topps series. But there's no challenge here as Cousy has defied the odds and appears nearly perfectly framed, supported by keen edges and endpoints that make it well-deserving of the lofty PSA 8 assessment. While the photographic quality of the series left much to be desired, coming off as particularly dark, the image of Cousy making his move to the hoop with teammates in the backdrop is particularly sharp for the issue, yet another outlier when compared to most examples in the hobby. The reverse follows suit, also dead-centered with bold, clean, red, and black pigmentation on a slate gray canvas. Known as the "Houdini of the Hardwood", Cousy almost singlehandedly defined the position of point guard, leading the league in assists for eight consecutive seasons from 1952 to 1960. Only 4 examples have graded higher, none of which have seen the open market in many years, making this the surest opportunity for advanced collectors and PSA Set Registry competitors to achieve significant set rating gains and position their way up the rankings.
