Following the successful Earth orbiting of the Soviet Sputnik I and II satellites, the Topps company produced an 88-card "Space" set in 1958 as a way of announcing the USA's entrance into the "Space Race." Cards #1 and #2 of the set are dedicated to the Sputnik missions, and the cards show futuristic depictions and events in man's conquest of outer space. Offered is a near complete set, 72 of the 88 cards, in overall NM condition.
