Like the rookie cards of other legendary big men that dominated the sport; the 1948 Bowman Mikan, the 1958 Topps Russell, and the 1969 Topps Alcindor, this 1961 Fleer card of Wilt Chamberlain is one of the most coveted basketball cards in the hobby. Chamberlian wasn't just the premier man in the lane; he was so completely ahead of his competition that he set records that will never be broken, causing league officials to adopt new rules specifically to curtail him. While the game has changed over the years, shifting from a powerful inside presence to more outside shooting and athleticism, especially among the vertically gifted, the hoops card collecting hobby still appreciates the power in the paint. This is a solid PSA NM 7 card is a bit of a mystery with four seemingly NM/MT corners and a pleasing rough cut along the vertical edges. The centering is typically askew but the other above-grade qualities and brilliant white borders should have been enough for another half-point in our opinion. One of the nicer PSA 7 NM Chamberlain rookies available.
