While the 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card may very well be the most coveted pasteboard of the basketball genre, it still,m in many ways, holds a back seat to a high-grade example of the debut of Wilt Chamberlain for several reasons, most notably the scarcity of the Chamberlain card but also the difficulty to find one with suitable centering to earn a high grade. Wilt Chamberlain is often the first name to challenge Babe Ruth in any debate regarding the most dominant athlete of their time, and so it stands to reason that the 1961 Fleer Wilt Chamberlain rookie card is an essential part of any advanced basketball card collection. This PSA 8 graded example is practically unprecedented with framing that is not too far from perfection. Vivid colors project from the surface and complement the black-and-white image of the massive rookie. The reverse is toned and problem-free, especially along the blue edges where chipping usually accumulates, but not here. It would be extremely difficult to find a more pleasing example at this grade!
