Not often seen at auction (even in our last event, which featured several salesman's samples but none from 1962), these promotional panels are certainly gaining steam within the hobby. The offered item is a 1962 Topps salesman's sample, never released commercially but given only to company representatives to inspire product ordering from retailers, which accounts for their scarcity. This example displays light wear at the four susceptible full-bleed corners, but centering is quite good and colors remain bold and brilliant. The reverse is clean and blemish-free, and, most importantly, showcases the reverse of the highly anticipated Roger Maris card, fresh from his record-breaking 1961 campaign! A delightful item befitting of any advanced collection.
