Known for centering issues and incredibly condition-sensitive black borders even more so than the iconic rookie cards of Mike Ditka and Fran Tarkenton, the 1962 Topps football series carries the distinction of having never yielded a single GEM MINT specimen out of over 27,000 submissions. And with recent MHCC auction sales for PSA 9 commons routinely topping the $4,000 mark, the sky is the limit for the collector who is fortunate enough to land the first GEM MINT specimen(s) of the entire series. Presented is a nearly full 1962 Topps football wax box containing 20 packs that have been authenticated and evaluated as NM/MT overall by Steve Hart (BBCE). With each pack containing five cards, that's an even 100 chances to break the streak of 55 years without a GEM MINT example on the PSA books, though a nice group of MINT pasteboards would certainly make for a wonderful consolation price. The last Ditka RC graded PSA 9 sold for $72,000; what if the next one, or dare we imagine, the first PSA 10 example, is staring you right in the face? Letter of Authenticity from BBCE.
