Although he's not "technically" a Hall of Famer, the 1963 Pete Rose rookie card is still one of the "must have" debut pasteboards for any vintage collection. And regardless of whether Rose ever gets his day at Cooperstown, there can be little doubt that he was one of the fiercest competitors and greatest players the game has ever known. His 4,256 lifetime hits remains at the top of the list with little chance of being surpassed in the foreseeable future. The offered example is graded a well-deserved PSA 8 and exhibits vivid colors and a strong layer of shimmering gloss. Virtually no evidence of chipping exists along the blue edges and the corners are true NM/MT meeting points with the lower left pushing GEM MINT territory. The reverse offers deep black print that contrasts well with the lively yellow backdrop, which is often dulled and washed out, even on examples graded at this high level. While the centering is in slight favor of the right edge, this is easily a strong PSA 8 example, worthy of any top collection.
