For most collectors, the mere mention of a 1963 Topps rookie card immediately evokes images of the great "Charlie Hustle", but "Pops" also made his debut as part of a quartet in the colorful series, and this PSA 9 MINT example is surpassed by just 2 others on the PSA pop report. Like many other promising players of that era, it took a few years for Stargell to reach his potential, thus his rookie card was not as coveted and highly cared for as some of the players who enjoyed immediate success. The bright yellow background of this issue is a virtual magnet for stray print dots, but this example appears largely unaffected. Borders are clean and white, and the centering is well within the tolerances for the elite grade, making it a very critical piece for any set builder looking for a heavy boost to their set rating.
