Though Pete Rose was named Rookie of the Year after his 1963 season, his .273 batting average, 6 homers, 41 RBI and 13 stolen bases (caught stealing 15 times) didn't have any prognosticators calling for Rose to become baseball's all-time hits leader. But once "Charlie Hustle" came of age, he blossomed into one of the most consistent offensive threats in the game, topping the .300 mark in 15 seasons over a 17-year span. The featured card is not one of the many many mainstream Pete Rose cards but a more scarce issue in the rare grade of PSA 10; an utterly flawless 1964 Kahn's Wieners card. The youthful and exuberant Charlie Hustle demonstrates his bunting technique in an image that is absolutely pristine in terms of color, contrast, and clarity. Although the color is constantly changing as you go around the edges on the perimeter, the card still manages to come through it without any chipping. Another issue that knocks examples from this series out of top-grade consideration is staining made possible by the method of packaging, but this card has clearly sidestepped any potential hazards to reach that pinnacle grade, a mark matched by just 3 others. A game-changer for any participant on the Pete Rose PSA Player Registry.
