Pete Rose's sophomore appearance with Topps, and his first card as a solo, is perhaps the most popular card in the 1964 Topps series, a big statement considering that Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, and Roberto Clemente are also present. The featured card earns a PSA 9 grade and pushes for GEM MINT consideration, offering near-perfect centering and an amazingly well-printed and pigmented image of "Charlie Hustle" in the foreground of the stadium backdrop. The various colors on the surface really pop, and are matched by the radiant orange reverse that shows no evidence of fading over the years. Rose's .273 batting average, six homers, and 41 RBI in his rookie season seem rather pedestrian, especially considering his place as the game's all-time hits leader, but was still good enough to earn a runaway nod as the 1963 National League Rookie of the Year. With just 34 others at the PSA 9 level and none graded higher, it's an essential addition for any PSA Set Registry listed set vying for the top spots in the standings. A true stunner!
