A spin-off of the Andy Griffith Show that ran from 1964-1969, Jim Nabors' Gomer Pyle character was so popular that the network decided to send the lovable, simple-minded garage mechanic into the United States Marines. Proving that the trading card market for popular TV shows and movies was as ruthless as the baseball card market, Fleer countered 1965 Topps issues of Gilligan's Island and King Kong by securing the rights to Hogan's Heroes and Gomer Pyle, with the complete unopened wax box offered here having been examined and authenticated by Baseball Card Exchange owner Steve Hart, wrapping it and adding the BBCE label of approval. The packs are all in pristine condition, NM to MINT overall, and very rare since the series was predominantly distributed in cellophane vending packs.
