In 1966, Topps decided to load up the first series with many of their prized mega-stars (Mays, Rose, Mantle, Yaz, Koufax, Banks, and the rookie card of Jim Palmer among others) while short-printing a large part of the high-number series, creating a 598-card assemblage that became an adventure to would-be set builders. Palmer isn't the only great hurler to make his debut in the '66 set; rookie cards of Fergie Jenkins and Don Sutton are present but don't get single billing like Palmer. The offered complete set is 5% NM, 1-% EX/MT, 50% EX, 25% VG/EX and 10% VG with graded cards of #500 Aaron PSA 5, 540 McLain PSA 8, 542 PSA 7, 572 PSA 7, 580 B. Williams PSA 5, and 591 G. Jackson RC PSA 6. Other important cards are #1 Mays VG, 30 Rose EX, 50 Mantle VG/EX, 72 Perez EX, 100 Koufax EX, 110 Banks EX/MT, 120 Killebrew VG/EX, 126 Palmer RC EX, 160 Ford VG, 195 Morgan VG/EX, 200 Mathews VG/EX, 254 Jenkins EX+, 288 Sutton EX, 300 Clemente EX+, 310 F.
