One of the true prizes placed in the 1967 Topps set, Minnesota's Rod Carew would take seven American League batting titles on his way to the illustrious 3,000 hit club and a ticket to the baseball Hall of Fame. The debut card of the 1967 Rookie of the Year is a tough find in MINT condition and the one featured is bested by just a lone specimen out of over 2,500 submitted to PSA. Nearly GEM MINT in every conceivable way, the only possible weakness, if you can even call it that, is the centering, which is shifted toward the horizontal southeast by maybe a degree or two. The images are sharp and help amplify the brightness of the yellow backdrop while the lime green border on the reverse is crisp and free of any significant chipping. Whether it's for a top-ranked set or for an advanced HOF collection, this one is right on target!
