While many historians consider Willie Mays to be one of the best players in baseball history, "The Say Hey Kid" would likely offer some of the credit for his success to his slugging teammate first baseman, and fellow Cooperstown resident Willie McCovey. Many would say that "Stretch" serves a supporting role, but his three National League home run titles and two RBI crowns, including a run at the Triple crown in his 1969 MVP season, say otherwise. The featured road jersey was worn by Willie McCovey during the 1967 season when McCovey led the Giants with 31 round-trippers. The inside collar has the team-tagged "McCovey" swatch, shown in black cursive thread, with a black marker "44" handwritten, while the tail shows the appropriate Wilson side 44 tag and team-stitched "1967" swatch. Heavy game use is evident with team repairs, and the jersey has an LOA from Troy Kinunen/Mears with a perfect A10 grade.
