It's been a longstanding belief that the brownish borders of the 1968 Topps set make it "easy" to land high-grade specimens and that the collection yields an excessive amount of GEM MINT specimens. Yeah, tell that to any collector on the hunt for a PSA 10 example of Mickey Mantle's card from that series! Only 9 examples have reached the top of the grading scale out of over 10,000 submissions, making this extraordinary MINT specimen a great alternative for any top-ranked collection. Three of the four corners can really argue a valid case for the GEM MINT threshold while the image quality is incredible and the centering comes very close to hitting a bull's-eye. The yellow reverse on many Mantle cards can appear dull, but this example has retained plenty of lively yellow pigment with virtually none of the usual unsightly stray print. A truly upper-level example.
