The 1968 Topps set is one of the most polarizing baseball issues to come from Topps. While many collectors find the tan borders that vary in shade rather uninspiring, others laud the collection for its excellent photography and the introduction of two significant rookie cards, Nolan Ryan and Johnny Bench. One thing that high-grade set builders have come to agree upon is that scoring MINT and GEM MINT grades from the series has proven to be a lot more difficult than initially thought. Offered here is the #2 PSA Set Registry rated 1968 Topps master set, 608 cards in total that combine for an overall GPA of 9.354. Over 26% of the set (163 cards) is graded PSA 10 GEM MINT, including #364 Morgan, 365 B. Robinson, and 378 Gibson. Every other key card save for #45 Seaver, 177 Ryan RC, 240 Kaline, and 355 Banks (of the 36 cards graded PSA 8) and #150 Clemente (one of three graded PSA 8.5) comes in at PSA 9 MINT, about two-thirds of the set, and that includes #50 Mays, 110 Aaron, 247 Bench RC, and 280 Mantle. For a complete breakdown of grades and individual card population, please visit our website for a link to the PSA Set Registry. ADDENDUM: The offered 1968 Topps Master Set was number two on the PSA set registry when the auction started, it currently appears to be number four.
