After an eleven-year absence, the Topps company returned to the hardwood by releasing a basketball set for the 1969-70 season. Taking a page from their previous efforts in the 1964 hockey as well as the 1965 football release, Topps chose to issue the cards in the larger "tallboy" style, quite possibly to even more greatly accentuate the rookie pasteboard of Lew Alcindor. But it wasn't just the future Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that makes this collection iconic as debut cards of John Havlicek, Gail Goodrich, Connie Hawkins, Elvin Hayes, and Walt Frazier, in addition to cards of Jerry, West, Oscar Robertson, and Wilt Chamberlian. The offered complete set is as consistent as it comes, with each card graded PSA 8 NM/MT. As seen in the scan, the Alcindor rookie card, as well as all the other cards shown, display outstanding centering for the issue with an overall appearance of NM/MT or greater.
