After an eleven year absence, the Topps company returned to the hardwood by releasing a basketball set for the 1969-70 season. Taking a page from their previous efforts in the 1964 Hockey as well as the 1965 Football release, Topps chose to issue the cards in the larger "tallboy" style, quite possibly to even more greatly accentuate the rookie pasteboard of Lew Alcindor. The set presents at a top-shelf appearance with some of the stars grading the following: 1 Chamberlain NM , 10 Thurmond NM, 15 Hawkins NM/MT, 20 Havlicek EX/MT+, 25 Alcindor EX/MT, 35 Baylor EX/MT-NM , 43 Bradley NM+, 50 Robertson EX/MT, 60 Reed EX/MT, 75 E. Hayes NM/MT, 90 West NM, 98 Frazier EX+, and 99 Checklist EX. The remainder of the cards grade the following: 15% NM/MT, 40% NM, 30% EX/MT, 15% EX.
