After producing a set with jet-black borders that had frustrated collectors who wanted to keep their cards in pristine condition, Topps returned to the white border format for 1972 with wildly colored frames that gave the set a splash of excitement. However, centering remained a sticking point in trying to build a top-grade collection. In the present day, the 1972 Topps set continues to increase in popularity among set-builders and GEM MINT examples of a Pete Rose card like the one offered here are making a huge impact on the PSA Set Registry rankings as advanced collectors search for every advantage possible. The feature card borders on sheer perfection, offering a dead-on accurate and well-registered image that is paired with endpoints that solidify its exclusivity at GEM MINT status. The glowing green frame contrasts so well with the bright white border and deep red of the Cincinnati uniform while the orange and black printing on the reverse accentuate the clean slate gray canvas. Rose would complete another .300+ season in 1972 for his 8th consecutive campaign. A delightfully bold example, one of only 11 in existence graded PSA 10 GEM MINT.
