The brightly-colored 1975 Topps release has been a collector favorite since its inception, largely due to the impressive crop of rookie cards that remains unrivaled by any other modern issue. In addition to Hall of Famers George Brett, Robin Yount, Gary Carter and Jim Rice, Fred Lynn and Keith Hernandez make their inaugural cardboard appearances in this issue. These cards famously feature full-bleed multicolored borders, making them very condition-sensitive and not easy to find in high grade. Offered here, however, is evidence that there are exceptions to every rule. Our consignor has spent years if not decades meticulously assembling this ultra high-grade compilation, with every card graded by PSA and all but 2 at the MINT 9 level or higher. A total of 137 cards have been graded at the pinnacle level of GEM MINT 10, with the remaining 421 in MINT 9 holders. This places it at #2 Current Finest on the set registry with a 9.19 weighted GPA and a 9.44 set rating. Of the PSA 9 examples, 41 have none graded higher on the PSA pop report, and several others have just 1 higher. Key cards in GEM MINT 10 condition include Al Kaline, Carl Yastrzemski, Pete Rose, Tony Oliva, Tom Seaver, and Tony Perez, while card #143 Cliff Johnson is the only GEM MINT 10 on record, #211 1972 MVPs is one of two and several others are one of three. For a complete breakdown of this set with grades and population, please visit our website for a link to the PSA Set Registry. This set is being offered two ways; in its entirety as well as individual lots, with the final sale determined by the greater total of the set versus the sum of the single cards. Our website will automatically reflect whichever portion has received the highest bidding total. Placing a bid on this lot constitutes bidding on the complete group.
