Founded in 1972, the New England Whalers joined the World Hockey Association and immediately made an impact, finishing the 1972-73 season with the WHA's best record and rampaging through the playoffs to capture the inaugural Avco World Trophy, the WHA championship. After 7 seasons in the WHA, the Whalers moved to Hartford and entered the NHL, only to relocate again in 1997 and are presently the Carolina Hurricanes. Offered is 1976-77 game-worn jersey of defensive standout Brad Selwood from the now defunct New England Whalers of the WHA. Extensive game use is apparent, with heavy marks and stains throughout, and individually tackle twill stitched lettering, numbers, whale patches and Assistant Captain's "A".
