Switch-hitter Eddie Murray never clubbed more than 33 home runs in a season, nor did he win a batting title, but his amazing consistency and longevity helped him put together a resume that was easily worthy of Cooperstown; 504 homers and 3,255 hits (the only switch-hitter in baseball history to smack 500+ home runs and compile over 3,000 hits). The 1978 Topps Eddie Murray rookie card is one of the most important debut pieces of the decade, but also a very difficult find in GEM MINT condition. To date, PSA has graded over 14,000 examples and just 18 others match the piece offered here. Compare that to the 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson rookie card, which routinely sells well into six-digit territory and has a higher PSA 10 GEM MINT population of 26 cards.
