As stated on the reverse (in two languages), "Wayne is considered the best prospect to turn professional since Guy Lafleur" and many would say that you don't need the "since Guy Lafleur" part of the sentence. But could anyone have predicted the magnitude that "The Great One" would have the sport or that he would be remembered throughout history as hockey's version of Babe Ruth? Offered in an alluring PSA 8.5 NM/MT+ example of perhaps the greatest hockey card ever produced; the 1979 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Gretzky rookie card, hosting strong NM/MT+ to MINT corners that barely show any evidence of chipping, even at the extremities. The centering is admirably astute for the issue and the image of Gretzky, just 18 years old and a slim 165 lbs. at the time, is sharp and eye-pleasing. A high-end example for the grade with an MBA GOLD classification for excellence.
