Most sports enthusiasts would've given anything for the chance to see Babe Ruth play. But in reality, if you're reading this, you probably did! Except the sport was hockey and the player's name was not Ruth; it was Gretzky. Wayne Gretzky is the Babe Ruth of hockey, having shattered the NHL record books as thoroughly as "The Sultan of Swat" did for the Yankees in the 1920s and 30s. Goals scored? Gretzky owns the top 2 spots for goals in a season and is #1 on the all-time list. Assists? Gretzky owns 11 of the top 12 spots for assists in a season, and of course, is #1 on the all-time list. In fact, if Gretzky never scored a goal in the NHL, his assist total would still rank him #1 in career points scored. That is dominance! As the NHL GOAT, "The Great One" had his share of all-star game appearances and this 1983 jersey was worn by Wayne Gretzky to represent the Campbell Conference in the 1983 All-Star game. Inside the collar is the Maska manufacturer’s tag and the “Gerry Cosby” distributor’s tag with size XL. Cosby was the distributor of jerseys in New York, and the game was played at the New York Islander's home arena (Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum). The front of the sweater reads “CAMPBELL”, with the player name “GRETZKY” and "99" on the reverse, with stars lining the sleeves and bottom, all done in white on black tackle twill with the Campbell Conference logo embroidered in black, white, and orange, and the fight strap is still intact. A perfect A10 assessment comes from MEARS, adding rock-solid authentication to this incredible piece! Please note there is included a terrific letter from The Hockey Hall Of Fame further attesting to the offered jerseys provenance, in which it actually describes a trade for the offered jersey for a 1972 Team Canada jersey of Phil Esposito! How cool is that?
