One of the most attractive and visually appealing sets ever produced is the 1989 Perez-Steele Celebration issue, released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Baseball Hall of Fame as well as the 10th Anniversary of the Perez-Steele galleries. In fact, Dick Steele himself has said that he regards it as his greatest Hall of Fame postcard set. The set is complete at 44 cards plus a checklist. Initially only 10,000 sets were issued, all numbered on the reverse, and all of them immediately sold out. There have been no updates, so the limited edition sets are fiercely coveted by collectors. The offered group consists of 39 of the 44 cards, all from set number 2544, with number 8 Campanella and 10 Conlon being the only two missing that were possible to be autographed. The other three, 16 Gomez, 20 Johnson and 41 Terry, passed away during production of the set and thus are not possible to find autographed. Each example has been encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA with the following results: GEM MINT 10 (7 cards): 2, 6, 11, 12, 22, 25, 27; NM/MT 8 (8 cards): 5, 19, 24, 26, 33, 37, 38, 40; the remaining 29 cards are all MINT 9 examples. A wondrous compilation for the avid autograph collector!
