When legendary Hall of Famer Jean Beliveau retired in 1971, Montreal Canadians fans wondered who would fill the void of the career 500-goal scorer that led "Les Habitants," to 10 Stanley Cup Championships. But just as the New York Yankees replaced Joe DiMaggio with Mickey Mantle, the Canadians added a teenager from the junior QMJHL league in 1972 that would eventually eclipse Beliveau's scoring records, a right-winger named Guy Lafleur. LaFleur, at six feet tall and 185 lbs. was not the mammoth physical specimen Beliveau was, but his trademark smooth skating style and scoring touch earned him the nickname "Le Démon Blond" (The Blond Demon). For 6 consecutive seasons, Lafleur topped the 50-goal mark and won 3 consecutive Art Ross trophies as the leader in total points. After a four year retirement and induction into the NHL Hall of Fame, Lafleur returned to the NHL for three seasons, playing with the New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques. To this day, he is widely considered one of the top 10 NHL players of all-time. Presented is an amazing game-used and autographed Guy Lafleur jersey, worn during his final NHL season with the Quebec Nordiques in 1990-1991. Excellent game use is evident, with numerous stick and slash marks that are mostly concentrated on the lower front and back of the sweater. This jersey is in impeccable condition, as the screened nameplate, letters, and fleurs-de-lis are nearly perfect, with some slight cracking on the sleeves. A black sharpie signature of Lafleur appears on the Nordiques logo. This is an incredible and important piece of hockey memorabilia, worn by one of the NHLs all-time greats and is presented in virtual GEM MINT condition.
