Michael Jordan didn't flash gaudy statistics like Wilt Chamberlain or ride to 11 NBA championships like Bill Russell, but "MJ" is considered basketball's GOAT. Jordan led the NBA in points per game for seven consecutive seasons and 10 times over an 11-season span. He's a five-time NBA MVP and he won 6 NBA championships in 6 NBA finals appearances while being named playoff MVP in all of them. With all of the attention paid to his 1986 Fleer rookie card, only the truly advanced aficionados of "His Airness" are even aware of the most valuable Michael Jordan cards on the planet, the 1997 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gem cards. The featured card displays MJ in all of his tongue-wagging glory, showing his determination and focus as he takes the ball to the rim. This rarity is one of just 100 copies issued (this is #67 as stamped on the reverse). The normal cutting process of this release often led to chipping of the fragile red edges, but you could hardly tell that based upon this treasure, that shows minimal erosion save for the top edge, while the sharpness of the endpoints is easily superior to the standards of the assessed grade. Otherwise, the card appears close to NM to NM/MT in every respect with a freshness not normally encountered. It should be noted that when taken into consideration with higher-graded copies, the featured keepsake matches up quite favorably if not in advance for appearance. If you are a world-class basketball card collector, there are few examples in existence with more importance and panache than this incredible specimen.
