The hobby of sports card collecting is a dominant industry, not just in the United States but around the world. However, there has always been an underlying admiration for non-sports trading cards that include a wide variety of subjects: birds, flags, television shows, satirical advertising, movies, and political figures among them. But none have seen the incredible popularity, and unfathomable sale prices for GEM MINT singles, than the expansive Pokemon series. One of the true grand prizes of the Pokemon universe, this 1999 Base Set Unlimited Thin Font lot contains the 36 packs that came out of the included original display box, with 11 cards in each pack, giving the owner almost 400 opportunities to pull a GEM MINT treasure. The box looks as if it was just plucked off of the store shelf and the packs immediately shipped off to PSA for grading, with the following results: Charizard - four PSA 10 GEM MINT, four PSA 9 MINT, and 4 PSA 7. Blastoise: Three PSA 10 GEM MINT, one PSA 9 MINT, 3 PSA 8, and 5 PSA 7. Venusaur: Three PSA 10 GEM MINT, four PSA 9 MINT, two PSA 8, Two PSA 7, and one PSA 6. So overall, there are 10 packs graded PSA 10 GEM MINT, 9 packs graded PSA 9 MINT, 5 packs graded PSA 8, 11 packs graded PSA 7, and one pack graded PSA 6.
