The 1952 Bowman issue is popular due to second-year issues of Mantle, Mays, Fox, Irvin, and many other significant players who saw their first cardboard appearances in Bowman's rookie-heavy 1951 issue. Although the 1952 set contains no major debut cards, most collectors consider it to be aesthetically superior to the previous year's issue because of the inclusion of a facsimile autograph in the '52 design instead of the black box containing the player's name characteristic of the '51 design. But the 1952 season brought one consistent feature: the New York Yankees were once again the champions, defeating the Brooklyn Dodgers in seven games with Mickey Mantle batting .345 for the series while blasting two home runs. The featured compilation of 1952 Bowman baseball cards is complete and as consistent as it gets with every card earning a PSA 8 grade, which would place it safely within the top ten current finest sets on the PSA Set Registry. A quick look at the scans provided confirms that the architect of this assemblage took great care to find cards whose visual aesthetics match or exceed the lofty NM/MT assessed, especially with the significant star cards. This is an amazing collection, one of the most important baseball cards ever produced in elite NM/MT condition.
