Issued in 1907 when Ty Cobb was about to complete his first full season in the majors. "The Georgia Peach" made quite an impression, leading the American League with 119 RBI, 212 hits, and 53 stolen bases, but what made Cobb a legend is that his .350 average earned him his first batting title, the start of nine consecutive crowns and 12 in 13 years. This postcard from the Detroit Seamless Steel Tube Company, along with other postcards of Cobb issued in the same year, is considered to be one of Ty Cobb's true rookie cards. Likely housed in an album for many years, the card is heavily toned save for the corners where it was fastened in the album. The perimeter quality is more in line with the VG/EX to EX range, and at a grade of SGC 2, it's the one and only example out of 7 graded by SGC with none graded higher. The image of Cobb is super-sharp, with Ty displaying a fiery look that would become his firebrand over the 24 years of his illustrious career. The caption reads "Tyrus Cobb, of Royston, Georgia, - Age 21, Member of the Detroit Base Ball Team, and the greatest ball player of the year in America." One of the greatest issues ever of the legendary Ty Cobb!
