Just halfway through his rookie season, 20-year old Roberto Clemente was already the toast of Pittsburgh, especially among his Puerto Rican brethren. Though his first five seasons were relatively pedestrian, Clemente became one of the major offensive forces of the 1960s, averaging .328 while winning four National League batting titles and nine Gold Glove awards in the decade. He was not known as a prolific signer at the start of his playing days and his early autographs are easily distinguishable from signings in the latter part of his career, as is the case with this postcard, postmarked July 20, 1955 from Pittsburgh and containing a clean "Best Wishes, Roberto Clemente" signature on a black and white snapshot. The name and address on the reverse are also in the hand of Clemente, and the postcard is authenticated and slabbed by PSA/DNA. A fantastic autograph from the very early days of Roberto Clemente's illustrious career.
Amazing Roberto Clemente Signed Real Photo Postcard Dated July 1955 PSA/DNA
