After decades of close calls, history finally caught up with the Babe as fellow pinstriper Roger Maris took his place atop the mountain as the single-season home run record holder by slamming his 61st homer of the season, coincidentally the only scoring in a Yankees 1-0 victory. With many fans hoping it would be Mickey Mantle and not Maris to topple the Babe, attendance at the game was just around 23,000, making ticket stubs like the one featured here a lot more scarce than most realize. If you're a collector and especially a Yankee fan, can you really pass on this?
