Written to Rocco Marchegiano and endorsed on the reverse as both Marchegiano and Rocky Marciano, this signed check is an amazingly rare piece and a beautiful memorial to the only heavyweight boxing champion to retire undefeated. The amount of just over $7,000 is an April 21, 1952 payment for his latest victory as the memo says "Balance Savold fight" in an unknown hand, a February 13th matchup where Marciano knocked out Lee Savold in the 6th round. Rocky's untimely death at just 45 years old makes Marciano's autograph very tough and particularly appealing, but this is one of the rare examples where he has signed his birth name along with his boxing name and is directly tied to his boxing career.
