The 1965 baseball season produced some remarkable performances with Sandy Koufax posting a 26-8 record with 27 complete games, 382 strikeouts, and a perfect game while career .242 hitter Zoilo Versalles won the American League Most Valuable Player Award. And Topps followed up their somewhat lackluster 1964 collection with one of their most popular assemblages of the decade. The 1965 set has no dramatic scarcities or short-prints, but Hall of Famers Joe Morgan, Steve Carlton, Jim Hunter, and Tony Perez made their debut appearances on cardboard and issues of Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Pete Rose, and Sandy Koufax continued to be the hot names that collectors prize most. The presented 1965 Topps has a PSA Set Registry rating of 8.221, each card in the set graded PSA 8 or better with a PSA 10 example of #91 Cubs team. There are 130 PSA 9 graded cards (including #485 Fox and 540 Brock), 19 graded PSA 8.5 (#170 Aaron and 330 Ford) and the rest graded PSA 8.
