It's been over 50 years since this 1969 Topps card of Hall of Famer Steve Carlton was introduced to the baseball card collecting public, and for virtually all of that time, it sat in the box of a hobbyist and remained untouched. Recently pulled out of hiding and submitted to PSA, it emerged with a top score of GEM MINT 10 and joins the ranks of just 4 others that will take even the highest-ranked collections to maximum potential. By no means the mega-star he would become years later with the Phillies, "Lefty" was flashing signs of his enormous potential with 25 wins and a 2.98 ERA over two full major league seasons. But over his 24-year career, Carlton topped the 20-win mark six times and earned four National League Cy Young awards.
